VOID As (A) – A Proposition ssembles a selection of research images and texts produced during a fellowship at Saari Residence, Finland, in 2018. It aims to collate-to-propose a series of prompts for thinking differently about, and through, the Void, including; as hole, gap and pause; as metaphor for how we may communicate in situations where language falters or entirely fails; as potential structure for claiming or carving-out time and space for that communication to take place.

In staying true to ongoing processes of context, sequence and consequence - as well as and the initial random double printing of text onto image - the edition covers 15 versions of the book, each presenting a different series and/ or sequencing of possible text-image juxtapositions. In addition, the OTA binding ensures that it continues to be possible to pull the book apart and reassemble it in new ways.

Development/ Book, Box and Collaboration

Void A/ As, First Test Recording, Towards Publication, 2018
A somewhat introduction to recent research through a small selection of image/ texts pages, randomly juxtaposed through blind-double printing. Produced during Fellowship at Saari Residence, Finland, April 2018

Initially and rapidly produced at Saari Residence, these pages have become a generative source for the development of collaborations and new works. They will be published, in July 2020, as both a bound and editioned book and as a loose-leaf 'box-set' of individual pages for continuous re-configuration and collective play. To test and exploit the generative nature of the work to date, both the bound and loose-leaf version aims to provide malleable prompts, in future discussions and collaborations, on the potential of using the Void as metaphor and structure for claiming or carving-out communal time and space for dialogue and reflection.
